Elected to the Zone 5 position in 2008, John Selph brings a wealth of community service experience to the board of education.
Selph began his career in public service at the Tulsa Boys’ Home in 1969 and later served as executive director until 1984 when he was elected to represent the people of District 2 as Tulsa County Commissioner.
Currently, Selph serves as the President and CEO of Volunteers of America. He also chairs the INCOG (Indian Nation Council of Governments) and the State Juvenile Justice Advisory Council, in addition to serving on other community boards.
Both he and his wife volunteer as reserve deputies with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office. Selph holds a B.A. from the University of Oklahoma and two Master’s degrees from the University of Tulsa and University of Oklahoma.
