Serving on the Board of Education since July of 2014, Monroe Nichols currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at IMPACT!Tulsa.
Prior to IMPACT!Tulsa, Nichols worked at the Tulsa Regional Chamber as the Director of Business Retention and Expansion, the Oklahoma Department of Career Tech where he managed state incentive funding for new and growing Oklahoma companies across Northeast Oklahoma.
Nichols also served as Chief of Staff for President Gerry Clancy at OU-Tulsa and as an aide to former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor, working in education and workforce development.
Nichols has experience in management, strategic planning and communications and has an exemplary record as an administrator. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including a United States Department of Justice Award for Public Service. During the various stops along his career, Nichols has been involved in initiatives spanning youth employment/development, urban and community health, access to quality after-school programs, as well as economic and adult career development.
Nichols was selected as a “40 under 40” by both Oklahoma Magazine and the Tulsa Business Journal in years past and was part of Leadership Tulsa’s Class 37. He is a past board member of Kendall Whittier Inc. and the University of Tulsa Letterman’s Association, and is currently a board member for Collegiate Hall Academy, an emerging charter school that will open August 2015.
Nichols earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from the University of Tulsa and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He is the proud father of one son, Gavin Monroe Nichols.
