Instructor Tradition Brings Smiles to Students
October 7, 2020
Prom, graduation and other important spring events in the life of high school students were all canceled in 2020 by the pandemic, but not all traditions went away. Tulsa Tech Pharmacy Technician Instructor Kari Gibson found a way to keep her cookie tradition alive.
“At the end of the year, I write them a little note in a card and place their cookies on top for them to enjoy on the last day of school,” Gibson said. “I did not want to miss out on tradition because of COVID-19. The students were so sad about their senior year, so I thought I'm going to find a way to bring some smiles.”
With encouragement from Owasso Campus Director, Dr. Leslie Clark, Gibson and her husband masked up and made the deliveries to each student. For a few nights, Gibson took cookies to all of her students, shared laughs and smiles, all while maintaining social distancing guidelines.
“There are almost 30 students, so we have to break up the evening, eight deliveries took three hours," Gibson said with a smile. "Worth every penny and moment!"
As students in programs across our six campus locations complete their work and join the workforce or continue their education, congratulations on finding a way to Make Your Own Path during this difficult time.
